CEO Makes a Legacy Gift Dedicated to Depression Research to USF HealthMichelle A. Turman, CEO of Catalyst Consulting Services, has made a legacy gift to USF Health in Tampa, Florida.

Tampa, FL – June 7, 2022 – Michelle A. Turman, CEO of Catalyst Consulting Services, has made a legacy gift to USF Health in Tampa, Florida. This marks Turman’s third gift to theuniversity since 2017 when she established a study abroad scholarship to enrich educational experiences for students in the College of Arts and Sciences. In 2021, Turman became the first female donor to the IBD Center that will serve as the west Florida’s first and only multi-disciplinary care center dedicated to making life better for IBD patients. The Center is planned to open in fall 2022 and Turman’s gift will go to honor those on the front lines by establishing the Nurse’s Station and future research. However, this gift is a bit more personal to Turman who lost her father to suicide in 2006.

“Each gift that I give strives to improve the lives of those in our Tampa Bay community and mental illness is something that requires an investment in humanity. We have all been touched in some way by depression and when the illness goes untreated, it can have devastating effects on a family. After great thought and consideration, I have decided to establish the Turman Memorial Fund for Depression Research to honor those we have lost, those who continue to suffer, and those who are left behind. I hope that in coming forward, I can do my small part in stopping the stigma related to this disease”

Turman, a USF alumna and advisory board member for the College of Arts and Sciences, has been responsible for increasing the impact and best practices of nonprofit organizations she has served since 1996 and raised over $87 million for the Tampa Bay community through her professional and personal philanthropic efforts.

“Through her investment, family members, caregivers and people living with depression can feel confident in our multidisciplinary approach and our cutting-edge research as we combat this complex disorder” Jay Stroman, CEO of the USF Foundation”.

Catalyst Consulting Services facilitates positive change for nonprofit organizations.
