Lubos Barton, a Euroleague Champion in 2010, continues to make headway globally as one of the best coaches working with talented young prospects in Europe.
Under his belt, Barton has coached FC Barcelona junior teams and was the head coach of the Czech Republic Under 18 team for four years. Barton worked relentlessly on his resume, adding vital experience with the Baylor basketball program in early 2020, prior to the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic, and soaking up new ideas from the 2020 NCAA champions.
“The road to success has no shortcuts. Individuals have to put in the work and have limitless patience,” states Barton, who says coaching in the NCAA is one of his goals in the upcoming years.
Barton took a challenge in 2016 and began his new journey as a coach in Spain. In 2020, Barton moved to Basket Brno – a team that plays in the Czech National Basketball League, assisting their youth team in getting ahead of the pack as Europe’s most sought-after team, as signified during the Adidas Next Generation Tournament, for two consecutive years.
Basketball Club Brno is a Czech professional basketball club based out of the city of Brno and presently competing in KNBL (Kooperativa National Basketball League). It currently ranks 3rd place.
In addition, Basket Brno is also competing in European matches and the European North Basketball League. During its first season ever, Brno took a very good 3rd place by beating Tartu Ulikool 80-76 and getting the ENBL bronze medal on Thursday, April 7, at the Hala Mistrzow in Wloclawek, Poland.
This is history in the making for the club as they earn their first medal. It seems like the glory days could be around the corner again.
“Representing my country has always been a great privilege – as a player and as a coach,” says Barton.
Barton, who is the assistant coach of the first team and is the leading figure in the development of the top young prospects, will be taking the club’s elite group of Next Generation Basket Brno to the prestigious game Adidas Next Generation Tournament.
One of the four youth Euroleague tournaments will be held in Ljubljana (Slovenia), and the young Czech will go ahead with teams like Real Madrid, Alba Berlin, and Zalgiris Kaunas, among others.
