Innovative cloud Software Facilitates Access to COVID19 Vaccines in Minority Communities

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - March 22, 2021 - PRLog -- Vaccine hesitancy, characterized by uncertainty and ambivalence about vaccination, is a legitimate viewpoint, underscoring the failure or lack of effective public health messaging  and minority hesitancy toward vaccines does  impact the distribution of COVID19 vaccines. Increasing the awareness and comfort level within minority communities is critical to achieving the highest level of vaccination possible and protecting the most lives. The National Minority Healthcare Association (NMHA) today announces a strategic partnership with EagleForce™ Health to promote their innovative vaccine management solution—myVax™ to help in this important national effort. The innovative system helps track, trace, and monitor COVID19 and other vaccines and medications throughout the patient's life.

Already in use in St Louis and Miami, as well as other cities, myVax increases access to protective healthcare through the use of innovative technology such as Telehealth, Persistent Monitoring, and Community Resources. These are all tools that support the NMHA's mission of health equity and the elimination of the healthcare disparity gap. Examples of the gap include:

  • Black males have the shortest life expectancy compared to all other groups
  • Hispanics have the second-highest prevalence of Alzheimer's and dementia
  • 50% of Hispanics will develop diabetes in their lifetime
  • Asian subpopulations and Pacific Islanders have a 5x higher ratio of hepatitis B relative to whites
  • Native Americans are twice as likely to have diabetes compared to whites
Minority communities suffer the brunt of infrastructure and institutional policies that systematically ignore their needs and challenges when it comes to seeking healthcare. Here are a few examples.
  • Minorities are more prone to live in multi-generational housing arrangements or take public transportation, exposing them to disease
  • Mistrust of the healthcare system due to historical unethical testing processes
  • Unintentional yet Inherent bias on the part of healthcare professionals as to what is best.  Just as the physiology of children is different than adults and women differently than men, differences in minority communities also must be taken into account.
"We are excited to partner with EagleForce Health and their myVax solution.  MyVax will help support and facilitate easier administration of the COVID19 vaccines and go a long way to reduce mistrust and hesitancy within minority communities as it relates to taking vaccines, said Burgess Harrison, Executive Director of the NMHA.

"The EagleForce Health team is looking forward to working shoulder to shoulder with the National Minority Health Association in its goal to of health equity, said Stanley Campbell, CEO of EagleForce Health.  If our myVax technology solutions can help one person get the vaccine they need, when and where they need it, then we have done a good thing, Campbell continued.
