ENERGY Project and Product Kick Off

By: PRLog

It's All About the Kids® Foundation partners with PrepEaze to feed San Diego kids

SAN DIEGO - May 20, 2022 - PRLog -- It's All About the Kids® Foundation [IAATK] is proud to announce the kick-off of the ENERGY Project with PrepEaze, San Diego's preferred meal prep and delivery service built on four essential pillars: Quality, Convenience, Health and Affordability. Together, they have created the first ENERGY Project nutritious food product.

Since IAATK's mission is to feed San Diego's kids, they also believe that exercise plays an important component to good health.  Since 2016, in partnership with Out of the Ordinary Group & Team Adventures, IAATK has provided new bicycles to the KCicletas Bike Club at the King Chavez Schools. Students learn bikes laws, the rules of the road, how to repair their bikes, go on neighborhood bike rides, and then at the graduation, they get to keep the bikes.  Because of COVID-19 and the students not attending school, the club was not active.  When KCicletas restarted this Spring, Director Francisco Contreras and IAATK's Angela Brannon-Baptiste spoke about the current needs of the bikes club.  He shared that the students were getting very tired after riding around the outdoor parking lot for a very short period.  They had not been exercising and needed energy.  Angela then created the ENERGY Project that includes a fun nutrition education program with nutritious food and reached out to Kenny Casciato at PrepEaze to create a snack.  They agreed upon a protein-rich energy bar for the students.

The IAATK ENERGY Bar by PrepEaze is a hit with the kids.  Full of protein, vitamins and nutrients from sunflower seeds, dates, craisins and more.  Instead of sugar, honey was added.  Chef Marshall Emerson, a San Diego local and Mexican-American Army Veteran, custom made the bar to be good for the kids and totally delicious. The nutrition education classes also reinforce that healthy food can also taste great which will nudge the students into making more healthy choices.  "When I eat one, it gives me super-powers", said biker Ivan.
