On October 16th, 2023, according to IAIO-NARDO (Geneva), to promote the sustainable development of the global aviation and tourism industry and the development of specialized academic research, the organization will start the establishment of a subsidiary department, the "World Aviation Tourism Promotion Council", and will appoint Dr. VirgĂnia Trigo, Founding Rector of the Macao Institute of Tourism, as its first President. The Council will set up several aviation and tourism laboratories and academic forums, as well as academic programs and post-doctoral/research fellowships in the field of aviation and tourism oriented toward sustainable development goals. At the same time, the headquarters of the council will be set up in the famous tourism city of Porto in the European Union and will select tourism ministries (bureaus), tourism city governments, civil aviation enterprises, cultural and tourism enterprises, universities, and institutes of many countries to become members of the academic council, and plan to convene the first conference of sustainable development of aviation and tourism at the Palais des Nations of the United Nations in 2024 to discuss the realization of sustainable development goals of the aviation and tourism industry in 2030. At the same time, the council will submit a stage-by-stage academic report to the IAIO-NARDO every four years, which will become part of the quadrennial report to be submitted to the United Nations by IAIO-NARDO.
President Virginia Trigo said that the years she spent founding the Macau Institute of Tourism and serving as its first President had allowed her to "innovate and make a different" and that "she has been lucky to work with a great team". She will encourage and promote quality development in the field of aviation and tourism industry during the next phase of the of the World Aviation Tourism Promotion Council.
It is reported that IAIO-NARDO is an international academic organization consisting of the International Aviation Innovation Organization & Norm Airlift Resources Development Organization, which is an international organization that encourages the promotion of cross-sectoral cooperation and change in the aviation industry and advocates the application of air transport resources for the benefit of mankind utilizing specialized innovation. Over the years, IAIO-NARDO has established good cooperative relationships with various governmental organizations, colleges and universities, independent laboratories, aeronautical enterprises, scientific research institutes, and academic societies. Following the final deliberations of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and the collective resolution of the representatives of all member States at its 956th meeting, the proposal to grant special consultative status to "IAIO-NARDO" was finally adopted. In addition, IAIO-NARDO has been officially accredited by the UNOG and is now an international organization based at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
