Dr. Estes brings more than 25 years of experience in software engineering and cybersecurity, including nearly two decades at Lockheed Martin, where he was honored as a three-time Lockheed Martin Fellow – the highest distinction awarded to the company’s top engineers. Most recently, he served as CEO of Ironwood Cyber, where he and his team developed a SaaS-based autonomous penetration-testing platform that redefined how organizations conduct scalable, continuous security testing.

At Binary Defense, Dr. Estes will lead product strategy and innovation across the company’s expanding technology ecosystem, including BD Platform – the AI-augmented operations platform that unifies detection, investigation, and response – and BDVision, a stealth MDR agent that enhances existing EDR solutions like Microsoft Defender with behavior-based detection, managed containment, deception technology, and EDR-bypass resilience. He is also spearheading the addition of new advanced deception capabilities into BDVision, including automated moving target defense (AMTD) techniques that dynamically reconfigure environments to disrupt attacker reconnaissance. His focus will center on accelerating automation, adaptive defense, and AI-driven decision-making across every layer of Binary Defense’s offerings.

“Aaron brings the engineering vision to accelerate our automation and AI roadmap and turn new ideas into capabilities that make a measurable difference for defenders,” said Dennis Hon, Chief Executive Officer of Binary Defense. “His leadership will help us continue redefining how AI and human expertise work together to detect and stop threats faster.”

With extensive experience working with leading defense contractors, financial institutions, and global conglomerates to address and mitigate critical cybersecurity risks, Dr. Estes has built a career bridging engineering discipline with real-world operational impact. In addition to his industry leadership, he serves as an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University and the University of California, Berkeley, where he designs and teaches graduate-level cybersecurity courses. He holds a Doctor of Engineering in Software Security and a Master of Science in Software Engineering, both from Southern Methodist University. He is widely recognized for combining engineering discipline, academic rigor, and creative problem-solving to tackle today’s most complex cyber challenges.

“I’m committed to ensuring that our products and offerings not only protect our customers, but also create lasting value for the business,” said Dr. Aaron Estes. “At Binary Defense, I will continue to drive innovation that automates where it should, humanizes where it matters, and quantifies outcomes that build confidence, strengthen renewals, and expand profitability.”
