Marquis Who's Who Honors Dimitri Tito, DO, for Advancing Global Medical Care

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / October 23, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Dimitri Tito, DO, for advancing global medical care. Dr. Tito has built a career on furthering health care and education, particularly in the application of epidemiology, internal medicine and global health. Raised in an underserved Appalachian community, he now contributes to humanitarian efforts in similar communities to bring health care to those without easy access to it.

Overcoming Educational Barriers to Entry
Born in Douala, Cameroon, Dr. Tito later moved to Lewisburg, West Virginia, where the future physician gained an appreciation for his community and the support they provided him as he went on to earn an education. He is the first in his family to become a doctor.

Dr. Tito's educational journey began in 2013 when he received an Associate of Science in biomedical engineering at Montgomery College. Soon thereafter, he received two more degrees over the next eight years, including a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering in 2016 from the University of Maryland, College Park and a medical doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020. He subsequently undertook a residency in internal medicine at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine in 2023.

During this time, Dr. Tito additionally completed two fellowships to practice the skills and knowledge he gained while attending university: an academic medicine writing fellowship with the National Center for Pre-Faculty Development and an osteopathic health policy fellowship with the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.

Giving Back to Country and Community
Dr. Tito has made it a priority in life to give back to the country and communities that helped him develop the career he holds today. As such, he commissioned in the military to serve as a combat physician, where he plied his trade in Iraq, providing vital medical care under duress. He now serves as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Department, where he operates within a Medical Readiness Operational Unit.

One of Dr. Tito's proudest achievements has been the installation and management of the Body Screening Project. Founded in 2021, the project originated in West Virginia as a means for providing health care to small, rural communities often lacking access to meaningful health care. The operation has since expanded its reach, now providing the same resources to underserved populations across Central Africa and Cameroon.

Continuing Contributions to Medicine and Wellness
Today, Dr. Tito serves as a physician at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he practices internal medicine. In 2020, he was recognized with the U.S. Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Award for his contributions to community service and medicine. He also became a published author upon the publication of his novel, "A Fire in Appalachia: A Journey from Underserved to Service," a chronicle detailing his journey from growing up in underserved communities to providing health care for people facing similar circumstances. His second novel, "SPARK: A Physician's Path to Purpose", takes readers from the mountains of West Virginia to the battlefield, sharing an inspiring story about discovering one's own strength and calling.

In the future, Dr. Tito aims to expand The Body Screening Project's operations by establishing a facility that would coordinate with hospitals across the United States to provide care to impoverished communities globally. He also plans to further his career by becoming a dean at a medical school, providing him the chance to pass on his knowledge and experience to students instilled with the same strong sense of civic mindfulness.

During his free time, Dr. Tito enjoys traveling and virtual reality, activities that enable him to engage with diverse cultures and maintain his adventurousness. He and his wife, Anita Tito, married in 2023 and have since worked together to contribute to their local and global communities.
