FinTrek Capital Releases Special Covid Testing Update

The statement carries a special government directive issuing a compulsory testing notice in 29 specified places, and also notifies the public of mobile specimen collection stations set up in different districts to facilitate testing

June 24, 2022 - FinTrek Capital wishes to inform the public of a special covid testing update issued by the government. According to the statement, the government has exercised the rights granted to it by the Prevention and Control of Disease (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) Regulation (Cap. 599J) to issue a mandatory testing order.

As published in the Gazette, the compulsory testing notice requires any person who had been present at 29 specified places, during the specified period (persons subject to compulsory testing), to undergo a COVID-19 nucleic acid test. The notice was issued after authorities observed a sudden surge in the number of positive cases, and will help in the distribution of the vaccine.

The Government strongly reminds members of the public to strictly follow the compulsory testing requirements and undergo testing on time as required. Additionally, mobile specimen collection stations have been set up in different districts, to facilitate testing in compliance with the compulsory testing notice.

While the above compulsory testing requirement applies to those who have completed a COVID-19 vaccination course as well, persons who have tested positive in the past three months (including positive cases tested either by nucleic acid tests recorded by the Department of Health (DH) or by rapid antigen tests (RATs) that have been self-declared to the DH) do not need to undergo compulsory testing.

What this means is that everyone who falls under the scope of the compulsory testing notice must come forward for testing, even if they have previously tested negative. Only those with a positive RAT result as stated above are exempt from retesting.

Furthermore, in the absence of a medical certificate proving that a person is unfit to undergo testing using a sample taken through combined nasal and throat swabs because of health reasons, no one subject to compulsory testing will be allowed to provide a deep throat saliva sample to fulfill the compulsory testing requirement.

Anyone seeking further information regarding the specified locations as well as the mobile testing stations can reach out to FinTrek Capital via the contact info below.
