Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure.
On December 22, 2008, Community Health Systems, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release
announcing that it was filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on that date a shelf
registration statement on Form S-3ASR, an Amendment No. 2 to its 2007 Form 10-K and an Amendment
No. 1 to its first quarter 2008 Form 10-Q. A copy of the press release is attached hereto as
Exhibit 99.1.
