Item 8.01 Other Events.

On January 10, 2006, Huntington disclosed that Ronald C. Baldwin, Vice Chairman of Huntington Bancshares Incorporated and The Huntington National Bank, who turns 60 on December 1, 2006, has informed Huntington of his intention to retire from these positions on December 31, 2006. His responsibilities will be assumed by other executives.
