TANDBERG Television, part of the Ericsson group (NASDAQ:Eric), today announced that Tianjin Broadcast & TV Network has deployed a fully redundant cable headend built on the award-winning TANDBERG iSIS 8000® solution, including encoders, multiplexers, and QAM modulators. The system is the first deployment of TANDBERG Television’s next generation MX8400 IP multiplexer in China, and will enable Tianjin Cable to harness the efficiencies of IP as it expands its cable Pay-TV business.
“We are pleased to be working with Tianjin Broadcast & TV Network to provide our industry leading iSIS 8000 headend solution which will help drive the transition of its 2 million subscribers to advanced digital TV services,” says Geng Liang, regional VP of Greater China for TANDBERG Television. “We have a long history of helping TV operators in China to deploy efficient and flexible distribution platforms which enable the delivery of increased channel choice, HDTV and VOD.”
The new TANDBERG Television headend has been integrated by TANDBERG Television’s PRC business partner NDT. The TANDBERG Television IP system was selected because of its high performance and because the company has a strong commitment and focus on the Chinese market.
The TANDBERG MX8400 is a new generation of system multiplexer which, as part of the iSIS 8000 solution, meets the needs of both ASI and IP distribution infrastructures together with robustness suitable for mission critical applications. The MX8400 is ideal for a wide range of multiplexing and re-multiplexing applications and introduces a new concept in multiplexing by being able to support up to multiple independent output streams allowing for greater flexibility and for future system expansion.
