(Miami, January 8, 2024) Miami's Latin Jazz Grammy nominee pianist Martin Bejerano and international award-winning Dutch jazz pianist and composer Mike Del Ferro come together to perform in an innovative Dranoff 2 Piano performance of "Opera Meets Jazz". Opera's most celebrated and memorable arias from Carmen, Tosca, La Traviata, and Rigoletto will be performed by lyric opera soprano Ella Marcus, in their original and jazz improvised forms.

"Mike and Martin's beautiful convergence of opera and jazz set the stage for a genre-bending tapestry, rich with classical roots and a popping passion for jazz," said Dranoff 2 Piano Executive Director, Carlene Sawyer. "Opera Meets Jazz" is truly a celebration of music and its stories across the lines of centuries, rhythms, great songs, and great artists. For the past few seasons, we at Dranoff 2 Piano have been branching out and exploring beyond the European canonical repertory. And if this sounds familiar, it is. Bringing jazz into opera is hardly new: the concept is nearly as old as jazz itself. Top of mind is the work by Gershwin, Irving Berlin, and Jerome Kern. They and others have done it, and musical fusion continues today."
