Twilio Welcomes Lybra Clemons as First Chief Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Officer

Twilio (NYSE:TWLO), the leading cloud communications platform, today announced that Lybra Clemons will join the company as its first Chief Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Officer. Clemons will be responsible for guiding and scaling inclusion strategy and diversity initiatives across the company’s global workforce. As the newest member of Twilio’s executive team, she will report jointly to Jeff Lawson, co-founder and CEO, and Christy Lake, chief people officer at Twilio.

“Lybra’s experience building inclusive and equitable environments within multinational companies makes her a perfect fit for this role,” said Jeff Lawson, co-founder and CEO at Twilio. “We are fortunate to benefit from her leadership through our next phase of growth, as we work to increase diverse representation at every level of Twilio.”

Prior to Twilio, Clemons was the Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion at PayPal, where she was responsible for overseeing and managing all global diversity initiatives, including developing a framework for diversity talent analytics, engagement, and recruitment. She has held senior-level diversity and inclusion roles at Morgan Stanley and American Express. Clemons brings her proven expertise advising global organizations on diversity and inclusion programs, implementing corporate strategies that result in stronger retention and higher engagement, and building high-performance teams to Twilio.

“Lybra has an ideal combination of strategic experience, thought leadership, and the builder spirit that is so vital to Twilio,” said Christy Lake, chief people officer at Twilio. “The opportunity to continue building this company’s culture on the strong foundation we have in place with the addition of Lybra’s leadership is truly exciting.”

“Twilio’s long standing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion has contributed to its unique culture and its overall success as a business,” said Clemons. “I’m excited to build on this foundation and drive positive change, not only at Twilio, but throughout the larger tech industry.”
