Making reading fun during quarantine

By: Issuewire

Hanover, Apr 24, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Children's book author Chaundra Durant Scott reminds us all to keep reading fun while staying safe!

She says, "1. Read with expression, pretend like you are the book character. 2. Drop technology. Although technology is great; a physical book and eye contact create lasting memories. 3. Take turns. Let your child read to you after you read to them. 4. Ask questions. Comprehension is key. Ask about the characters, the main events and how they would change the ending. Above all else, make it fun!"

Scott is the author of several children's books including, Beautiful Shades, and The All-Star. In addition to her books, she runs an after school program for young girls called Little Curls and Coils. This program is designed to empower young girls and boost self-esteem. She's looking forward to meeting with the girls when socializing is safe again.

Although her program is only currently in Maryland, her books are available nationwide. Be sure to follow her on Instagram @Curls_coils
