Workiva Sponsors GovDATAx Summit to Improve Transparency in Government Data

Workiva (NYSE:WK), provider of the world’s leading connected reporting and compliance platform, will play a key role as title sponsor of the Data Coalition's inaugural GovDATAx Summit, to be held October 30 at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center here.

The Summit will focus on how government data can be harnessed and used for analysis, transparency, accountability, enforcement and civic engagement. Speakers include Congressional supporters of data transparency, financial regulators and leaders from the financial and technology private sectors. Much discussion will be about the Financial Transparency Act (HR 4476) (FTA), which was introduced to Congress in September by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC).

The FTA seeks to modernize financial regulatory filings to gain similar efficiencies and benefits found in other innovative government programs in tax, banking and open data reforms. The FTA would require the eight major U.S. financial regulatory agencies to adopt uniform, machine-readable data standards for the information they collect from regulated entities.

“GovDATAx will offer attendees a unique opportunity to discuss strategies for making high-quality government data more accessible and useful,” said Nick Hart, CEO of the Data Coalition. “From the implementation of the Evidence Act to championing reforms like the FTA, we are exploring ways that federal data can be collected, used and reported for benefits in government and the private sector.”

“We continue to support the efforts of the Data Coalition to advance uniform data standards, which will make regulatory compliance easier for companies and government agencies,” said Marty Vanderploeg, CEO of Workiva. “Our goal is to increase transparency and improve access to government data for taxpayers, investors and innovators.”
