NuWave Solutions Wins AFCEA EPIC App Challenge

NuWave creates an Azure based application which could be used by Intelligence Analysts to focus research on keywords

MCLEAN, VA, September 10, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- NuWave Solutions was selected as the winner of the 2nd Annual EPIC App Challenge at the AFCEA Intelligence and National Security Summit. The challenge was to extract news data from open source websites and applications (i.e., newspapers, blogs, television, social media), enrich data to make it more useful, build a model to triage reporting and identify articles/news/videos containing viable intelligence, and provide a method to push intelligence to those who would want to see it.

Congratulations go out to NuWave's employees Elise Beisecker, Raja Chithambaram, Sammy Hamilton, and Mike Rodgers, who created an Azure based application which could be used by Intelligence Analysts to focus research on keywords provided by the analyst. The technology stack used was GDELT and Twitter for source data, Azure Blob Storage, Table Storage, SQL Database, Cognitive Services, Logic App, Data Gateway, and Power BI Service for user interface and analytics display. The use case NuWave presented to a panel of former IC and Military senior executives was finding useful articles and information on Chinese investments in Ukraine. The review panel found the application exceeded the challenge criteria and was a novel, creative, and easy to use application would help the analyst do their job faster and with greater accuracy.
