Jane Austen Literary Tour Series Now Available From Donna Fletcher Crow, Award Winning Author Of British Historical Novels

Crow writes meticulously researched, entertaining novels of romance, history and mystery in an engaging you-are-there style that allows readers to live the history.

WILMINGTON, NC, May 16, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Literary tours led by authors are something of a travel industry standard and can bring great new insights to a trip. But have you ever been offered a literary tour led by an author who's been dead for more than 200 years?

That's what award winning author Donna Fletcher Crow undertook on her most recent research trip. She invites readers to come along (via a series of articles posted on her website). In the new series, she will relate her experiences in regards to visiting Jane Austen's favorite (and sometimes not-so-favorite) seaside resorts across the breadth of England. The sites in the new series will include, Teignmouth, Dawlish, Sidmouth, Lyme Regis, Southampton, Portsmouth, Bognor Regis, Worthing, Brighton, Ramsgate, and Chawton

Crow explains: "The Austen family was on the cutting edge of tourism in the 18th century as visitors flocked to the latest newly developed resort, seeking the healthful benefits of sea-bathing (in the coldest water possible and often in the nude) and the gaiety of social life in the assembly rooms, libraries, theatres, and shops each new spa offered.

"Visiting those sites today guided by Austen's letters, published novels and her unfinished work Sanditon, which parodies just such promotion schemes, gave my tour a fascinating mix of history and modernity which I hope to share with my readers in my articles and my next book."

The first article in the Jane Austen series is available on Crow's website at https://donnafletchercrow.com/p/356/A-Seaside-Tour-with-Jane-Austen. This is an overview of the itinerary. Each site will then be visited in depth on succeeding weeks.

Donna Fletcher Crow is the author of 45 books, mostly novels of British history. The award-winning 'Glastonbury' is her best-known work, which received the prestigious First Place, Historical Novel, award from the National Federation of Press Women. Readers and reviewers have raved about 'Glastonbury', calling it "The best of its kind," "richly fascinating," "beautifully researched,", "gloriously evocative," and "panoramic." One Amazon reader said, "WHAT a work! Every reader can be enveloped in the sheer scope and quality, every historian be constantly nodding at the precise detail and accuracy, and every Christian can rejoice in the fullness of scripture. For me it is simply beyond descriptive praise. I would urge all who value truth to treat themselves to a feast."

The Lord Danvers Victorian true-crime series is an Amazon bestseller in the British Detectives category. Books in the series include 'A Lethal Spectre', 'A Most Inconvenient Death', 'Grave Matters', 'To Dust You Shall Return' and 'A Tincture of Murder'. The seaside visits featured in these tour articles will provide the background for the next Jane Austen book in the Elizabeth and Richard Literary Suspense series.
