Lead Single "Trouble" Available For Download Nov. 16

BALTIMORE, MD, November 17, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Animation director and disc jockey Tony Drake's debut project The Indies: An Animated Short is now available for online viewing. The Indies: An Animated Short is an action-packed animated short film that was created with a talented and diverse group of freelance artists. The short was produced within a year after raising over $50,000 in less than 35 days on Kickstarter.

The animation's lead single "Trouble" is available for download on a variety of music platforms (iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, etc). The single features southern rapper Chalie Boy and DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) based artists Locke Kaushal, Wayne Watts and Ikey. Production support was provided by Grammy Award-winning House Studio DC. The full-length EP for the short will be released early 2019, to coincide with the animation's festival run.

The Indies: An Animated Short looks to challenge how audiences view the fluidity of good vs evil, and the forces that pull us back and forth across that thin gray line. The film draws inspiration from two worlds that, at first glance, could not be more different: modern day Hip-Hop and the Wild West. The characters are revealed through intense action sequences whose dynamic can change from one moment to the next. This ultimately challenges the audience to decide who they perceive to be heroes and who they perceive to be villains.

The first screening of The Indies: An Animated Short took place Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Landmark Atlantic Plumbing Theater in Washington, D.C. The screening was sponsored by Kind Snacks and Ben's Next Door, which is part of the Ben's Chili Bowl franchise. The second screening will be held at the CTN Animation Expo Saturday, Nov. 17, in Burbank, California. Tony Drake is a first-time director and full-time electrical engineer with roots in El Paso, Texas. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland in 2006 for educational pursuits, Tony decided to pursue his lifelong passion for music as a disc jockey and on-air radio personality.
