SANTA TERESA, SARDINIA - Oct 15, 2018 - At the 5th Life After Oil International Film Festival in Sardinia, Australian Filmmaker Elliot Spencer who grew up on the Darling Downs Region of South East Queensland received the Award for Best Film Human Rights. The festival sponsored all flights and expenses for Spencer to attend the event and he was presented with the Mask of Ottana.
“Long Yearning” is a cinematic exploration of the lives of Chinese factory workers and the nature of repetitive industrialised work. The film is intermixed with written excerpts of traditional Chinese poetry, creating a surreal merging between modern and ancient China.
"It was an incredible experience to travel to Sardinia and have “Long Yearning” received with such enthusiasm,” says Director Spencer “I left Sardinia in awe of the country's beauty and the hospitality of its people. More than ever I feel inspired to take risks creatively.”
Spencer's “Long Yearning” has been an international success with screenings across Europe, USA, Asia, and Australia.
