UK's Path to Leaving the EU

The United Kingdom’s path out of the European Union (EU) got a little more complicated Wednesday, January 25, after the Supreme Court ruled that Brexit cannot begin without parliamentary approval. To trigger Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty – the formal mechanism for exiting the EU – Prime Minister Theresa May must first get backing from a divided Parliament.
