Official Music Video by North Carolina Band Rootzie Echoes Moral Monday Message

By: PRLog
Raleigh area reggae and blues band ROOTZIE was selected by local artist-driven video production company Blue Clay Studios for development of a music video, "Rise Up Babylon." The song is a call to action for people to step up and be heard and the video includes Moral Monday footage.
RALEIGH, N.C. - Sept. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- ROOTZIE is a Raleigh-area reggae and blues band led by guitarist singer- songwriter, Gregory Blaine. Their song "Rise Up Babylon," was selected for creation of music video by Saxapahaw, NC-based Blue Clay Studios.

"We really liked the message, the groove of it and the good harmonies. The team at Blue Clay Studios was fully on board with this song and the video concept," John Loy, a co-founder said. "We're proud of the song, the music and the video. Its message is important, about people needing to come together."

"John knew this song and had played it back when he was a drummer with ROOTZIE," Gregory Blaine said. "When he came to us it was amazing. He said Blue Clay Studios wanted to produce the video with no charge, just a split of  the proceeds." Blaine continued. "They told us, 'You've got the music, you've got the talent, you've got the song. Let's see what we can do with it. We'll get the video done, and get it on sites where people can hear it and buy it.'"

"Rise Up Babylon" was written by Gregory Blaine with his partner, Dolores "Doli" Chandler inspired by "observing the less-than-ideal response of state and local governments to the people," Blaine said. "'Rise Up Babylon,' is our strongest social statement so far. We do a lot of spiritual music, or music that has a lot of spirit in it. This song was written during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill when oil was gushing out in the gulf. These things continue to happen."

Including footage of the Moral Monday marches in the music video gives historic and political resonance to the song. Moral Monday marches were started in North Carolina in April 2013 to raise attention to the impact of political changes on the lives of ordinary citizens.
