Helping others is always good business. Hamilton Gayden, owner of 101 Mobility of Oakland County and a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), was excited to participate in West Bloomfield Senior Resource Group’s event, the Senior Resource Expo.

Taking place on August 2 from 1:00-4:00 p.m., the get-together was held at The West Bloomfield Library in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan. The purpose of the Senior Resource Expo is to help seniors and their adult children learn about the next generation of senior service providers.

“The West Bloomfield Library provided a terrific forum for 101 Mobility of Oakland County and the other Senior Resource Group members to listen and chat with our neighbors about how to better serve their needs,” said Gayden.

101 Mobility of Oakland County, a leading provider of mobility and accessibility solutions in the area, attended the event to speak on the benefits of mobility equipment such as stair lifts, ramps, and Philips Lifeline.

“There was about 140-150 seniors and their adult children in attendance,” he said. “We enjoy sharing what we do every day to increase the quality of life for seniors who wish to live independently in our beautiful community.”

Other Senior Resource Group members on site included assisted living and rehabilitation facilities, in-home healthcare providers, real estate and insurance agents, as well as an essential oil/wellness center.

“It was a wonderful cross-pollination of ideas at work. We, at 101 Mobility of Oakland County, came away with several new product ideas to enhance our seniors’ experience. A lot of learning on all sides!”

The event also featured music from popular pianist, guitarist, and vocalist Michael Krieger. Krieger serenaded the library with hit songs from the 1920s-1960s. “Nearly every person took advantage of the prominent local musician’s performance,” Gayden recounted.

The Senior Resource Expo received very positive feedback from attendees who were able to gather plenty of important and useful information on the spot. 101 Mobility of Oakland County even received follow-ups from seniors who weren’t able to attend, but were interested based on the feedback from those who were.

“The community membership and responsiveness to prospects’ actual needs was just incredible,” Gayden explained.

The Senior Resource Expo was co-sponsored by the Library and the Senior Resource Group of the Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce.
