greenshield organic Introduces Sugar Cane-Sourced Bottles

By: PRLog
PRLog - Jan. 15, 2015 - RALEIGH, N.C. -- greenshield organic™ has introduced a new and sustainably-sourced approach to the plastic bottles used in the packaging of its laundry detergents and surface cleaners. The company has moved from petroleum-based virgin PE (polyethylene) bottles and replaced the source material with Green PE made from sugar cane and then blended with PCR (post-consumer resin). The sugar cane resin is provided by Braskem.

Sugar cane is a carbon dioxide depleting resource, removing 2.15 pounds of carbon dioxide from the earth’s atmosphere for every 1 pound that is produced (from cradle to Braskem factory gate as determined by the LCA Study conducted by E4tech & LCA works). Traditional industry packaging, made primarily from petroleum-based plastics, emits 1.83 pounds of carbon dioxide for every 1 pound produced (as determined by Plastics Europe). The environmental offset from using a sustainable and renewable resource such as sugar cane in its plastic packaging is significant, increasing the commitment of greenshield organic™ to not only provide the safest cleaning products in the market place, but also by utilizing packaging that minimizes or reverses environmental impact .

The packaging shift will be easily noticed, as the distinct new sugar cane green bottle color is easily recognizable. Laundry and dish detergents, spray and specialty cleaners will be seen on store shelves soon in the greenshield organic™ brand that also features redesigned and updated logo and product labeling.

greenshield organic™ is the only complete line of USDA Certified Organic cleaning products in the United States. The company has been producing effective and affordable organic cleaners since 2009.
