Can Career-Driven Women Succeed in Both Love & Business?

By: PRLog
Female Entrepreneur Docu-series Explores Today's Gender Roles' Challenges
PRLog - May 6, 2014 - WASHINGTON, D.C. -- This progressive Docu-series, which aired its introductory clip on its Kickstarter Campaign page (watch video at http://kck.st/1pM0Q2N), endeavors to illustrate life, family, love, and career dilemmas faced by many females between the ages of 25 and 45, following strong socio-economic and cultural changes experienced in the past 50 years, that stress, embarrass, and confuse career oriented, yet family hungry, women.  The exercise is intended to be genuine (highlighting the human emotional element), transparent (unscripted), and uplifting (humorously positioned) as it looks to educate, inspire, and possibly empower other females facing one or more similar challenge in their lives.

Startupland Co-Producer Jonathon Perrelli (http://startupland.tv/), Priceline.com Co-Founder Jeff Hoffman (www.priceline.com), The International Women’s Leadership Association Executive Director Beth Johnston (www.theiwla.com), DC Matchmaking Founder Michelle Jacoby (www.dcmatchmaking.com), and GNI International Founder Giadha DeCarcer (www.gni-international.com), have joined forces in this unique project looking to unveil the realities of female entrepreneurs’ personal and professional journey as they strive to succeed in both love and career.  Illustrating the realities of trying to “have it all,” Giadha will be followed as she launches a new business, from concept to funding, and endeavors to still find love.

The team has decided to let the public choose what business idea she will launch – all votes are being gathered at: http://gni-intl.blogspot.com/

“We need to genuinely illustrate and talk about the current Generational Gender Identity Crisis we […] are facing and struggling with when it comes to love and career.” said Giadha,  “It is no longer clear what our gender roles are, nor can we rely on our parents’ or grandparents’ generations to provide relevant guidance. This is causing stress, confusion, and embarrassment as women endeavor to identify what they want, what they should want, and what they can ultimately really have.” she adds “Today 1 in 2 marriages ends in divorce; do we really get to choose between love and career anymore?”

As reported by American Express OPEN in their State of Women-Owned Businesses Report, 1997 – 2011, there are over 8.1 million women-owned business in the US, 29% of all enterprises, and between 1997 and 2011 the number of women-owned firms increased by 50%, a rate one and half times the national average.  This month Forbes published The Truth About Entrepreneurship And Dating and tells female entrepreneurs “Your ability to date will be hindered, greatly.”  In just a few days Power Shift 2014, the Oxford Forum for Women in the World Economy, will be featuring as its main theme Women and Finance to address the major impact women in business is having on our global economy.

“The socio-economic impact of these realities is why we need to spark further dialogue and explore more meaningful ways to educate, inspire, and empower business women.” notes Giadha when speaking of what she refers to as a “Generational Gender-Role Identity Crisis” in both business and relationship dynamics.
