PRLog - Oct. 10, 2013 - SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. -- Whale on the beach? Wooden Causeway Bridge? Miss Magic? Storm of the century bounce backs? Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce members have been mastering the balance of promotion, changing infrastructure, and natural disasters since 1914. On November 12 beginning at 11 30 am at the Holiday Inn Manahawkin the community can gather to hear the myths, legends and truths about the landmark moments that put our region in the press and local business owners to the test.

As part of counting down to a century of service, the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce has planned an afternoon to showcase the resilience, ingenuity and the little bit of luck that kept the business community moving forward. A photographic presentation by moderator Tim Hart, Ocean County Historian, will kick off the conversation that discusses the Southern Ocean County Chamber roots as an organization established on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia to its current status as one of the top chambers of commerce in the state.

With commentary from a Centennial Panel which includes Gil Anderson, Margaret Buchholz, Sue Marshall, Marion Larson and Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove. Commemorative presentations as well an opportunity for attending businesses to produce a radio greeting.  Southern Ocean County Chamber Centennial Media Sponsor WJRZ 100.1 FM will be on hand for local businesses to record Anniversary messages that will run on air throughout the year.

The 100th year celebration continues in the month of November with Barnegat Business events being showcased as part of Regional Spotlight Salute, the salute focuses on Tuckerton in January, Lacey in March, Stafford in May and to LBI for the Centennial Summer! The cost of the lunch is $20; it is open to the community, it includes networking, program and buffet.
