Dr. J.R. Fralick has appeared as soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, The Toledo Symphony and the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra.  He has performed his favorite operatic roles (Rudolfo in La Boheme, Alfredo in La Traviata and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni) many times at houses in the Midwest United States and Italy.  An avid recitalist, he has been featured with Music of the Western Reserve, The Cleveland Musart Series, Austin’s classical band REVEL, numerous recital series and Lieder Recitals in Austria.  While his specialty is Russian music and the music of Benjamin Britten, he has also ventured into cabaret and related styles, headlining at the Cleveland Playhouse, Cleveland Fusion-Fest, Cleveland Public Theater (in dance & cabaret concerts!) and other contemporary and pop venues, including numerous performances at Opera in the Garden at the Cleveland Italian Cultural Garden:

Dr. Fralick is on faculty at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory and the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival.  His students have been accepted to prestigious graduate institutions like Manhattan School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory, Indiana University, Florida State University, Westminster Choir College and the Maryland Opera Studio among others and have gone on to star in Broadway and West End (London) productions as well as with opera companies across the country.

Pianist Carla McElhaney is highly regarded as a passionate and dynamic performing artist and coach. Nominated for “Best Classical Instrumentalist of 2011-2012” by the Austin Critics’ Table, McElhaney’s playing has been lauded by the Austin Chronicle as exhibiting “…an exciting mix of focus and passion,” and her performance with the Austin Civic Chorus of Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle was a performance heralded as one of the Austin Chronicle’s “Top 10 Classical Music Treasures of 2011.” McElhaney is the pianist and Executive/Artistic Director for REVEL Classical Band, an innovative chamber ensemble dedicated to bringing the classical music experience back to its radical roots. A catalyst for innovation in the classical music field, McElhaney’s most recent project, the Zenith Quintet (ZQ), is an electro-acoustic ensemble dedicated to commissioning new works for piano/keyboard and saxophone quartet.

McElhaney’s versatility and command as a performer have made her a favored collaborative artist on several commercial and academic recordings, including The University of Texas Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, Finesse with saxophonist Todd Oxford, Juggernaut with saxophonist Jeremy Justeson, composer Stephen Barber’s Astral Vinyl and Underground: 7 Poems, a compilation disc of works by Canadian-American composers with soprano Nanette Canfield, REVEL’s self-titled first release with cellist Joel Becktell, and REVEL’s most recent release, Magic Hour, with Joel Becktell and violinst Cármelo de los Santos. McElhaney has premiered solo, chamber and ensemble works by notable living composers such as Rob Smith, Donald Grantham, John Harbison, Paul Chihara, Loris Chobanian, P. Kellach Waddle, and Stephen Barber.

In addition to her regular appearances with REVEL and ZQ, McElhaney maintains an active performing schedule and has been featured as a soloist and collaborative artist with ensembles such as the Southwest Washington Symphony, Cleveland’s RED {an orchestra}, NYC-based F.R.E.D. Chamber Players at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, PKW Productions, The American Repertory Ensemble, the Austin Civic Chorus, and the Austin Chamber Music Center. She currently serves on the piano faculty at Texas Lutheran University.
