Brossman Presents Social Media Vision for Pamlico CC and Oriental Tourism Board

By: PRLog
PRLog - May 14, 2013 - RALEIGH, N.C. -- More than 30 small business owners gathered on May 9 at the Town Hall in Oriental, a Pamlico County town known as The Sailing Capital of North Carolina, for a three-hour seminar on how to “Use Social Media to Market and Transform Your Community.”  Organized by the Pamlico Community College Small Business Center and the Oriental Tourism Board, the event presented speaker Martin Brossman, a leading authority on social media marketing, who is committed to promoting the role that social media effectiveness can play in creating grass roots economic growth from the ground up.

As a business coach based in Raleigh, Brossman has recognized the ever-increasing importance of a strong Web presence for both the individual businesses in a town and for the town or area itself as an interesting attraction.  His presentation underscored his belief that “each business can be a beacon of the value in a town using the new tools of the Web, but it requires thinking in terms of Us, not just Me.”  He also emphasized that true hope and economic growth must come from the ground up, asking what will it take, instead of asking if we can do it.

The audience appreciated his North Carolina case histories of social media success that put wind in the sails of the advice.  “Having a proactive Buy Local program on the ground and expressing that onto the Web is vital, Brossman said. “The traditional idea of having a single point broadcasting from the town such as one website is not enough to bring in sufficient future business.  When a large number of local businesses contribute to the conversation of value in their community it has much greater impact, drawing more of Google’s attention in searches for the area, which will draw more customers to local places of business.”

Martin Brossman teaches at Small Business Centers and Chamber of Commerce venues across North Carolina.  More information about his upcoming classes can be found on his website: www.NCSmallBusinessTraining.com  which also provides public pages of free resources for small businesses.  His latest book is Social Media for Business: The Small Business Guide to Online Marketing, which is available at Amazon.com
