Same-day hotel booking app HotelQuickly reaches 50,000 downloads and launches in Australia

By: PRLog
HotelQuickly, Asia’s largest same-day mobile hotel booking app, is on an expansion spree: After 7 weeks of being live, it is already active in 9 countries across Asia Pacific, and its iOS and Android app was downloaded more than 50,000 times. The Hong Kong based startup seems to have hit upon a major trend, offering a mobile-only service to travelers in the region. Today, HotelQuickly officially launches in Australia, with Sydney and Melbourne as its first cities to offer discounted hotels.

PRLog - May 09, 2013 - SYDNEY, Australia -- The concept of same-day hotel booking at heavily discounted rates is already well-established in the US and in Europe, but until recently the model has been absent in Asia Pacific. The idea is catchy: A person in spontaneous need of a hotel room opens the HotelQuickly app, and is immediately shown 6 near-by hotels. All of the 6 hotels offer better prices than what is available online, and each hotel can be booked within seconds directly from the HotelQuickly app. The person can then check in right away.

HotelQuickly’s expansion post-launch has been quick. After initially launching in Hong Kong,, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, the company just recently added Vietnam and Macau. In addition, more cities are being constantly added in the already established countries. This makes HotelQuickly by far the largest Asian player in the same-day mobile booking space. Being available for iOS and Android, the app has been downloaded more than 50,000 times already and growth is likely to even accelerate now that more countries are made available.

The start-up team consists of 40+ people across the region, 15 were previously in senior management positions with Rocket Internet ventures in Asia (e.g. Zalora, Lazada, Foodpanda). This might be the reason for the speed of execution, as the venture literally grows at rocket speed. However, Michal Juhas (CTO HotelQuickly) explains that even though HotelQuickly is expanding very aggressively, the company is and stays customer-centric. “Luckily, we receive a lot of feedback and suggestions from our users, which helps us to serve the market better”, explains Juhas. “We focus on delivering the best possible product to our users. We released enhanced versions of our applications just a few days ago, and we are currently working on additional great features, which will be made available within the next few weeks”, continues Juhas, who built up successful ventures in Europe before co-founding HotelQuickly in Asia.

HotelQuickly believes in the great potential of the Australian market, as the travel pattern in Australia has been shifting from pre-booking trips and holidays towards last-minute bookings for spontaneous holidays. Utilizing online travel deals, savvy consumers now take quick trips on short-notice when a great deal presents itself. Scoopon and other deal sites have contributed to this trend over the past few years.

HotelQuickly officially launches on May 10 in Sydney and Melbourne, while more cities will be added over the following weeks.
