Arrest Without Judicial Review; Detention Without Hearing; Prosecuting Without Trial:

By: PRLog
PR Log - Jan 01, 2012 - When studying the Federalist Papers—not to mention the constitution—one would think that the recently passed Senate Bill (SB) 1867 would at the very least cause concern and raise questions. Why? Because SB 1867 gives to the President unchecked and discretionary power to arrest and detain U.S. citizens without due process under laws of war.

Not only does SB 1867 violate the U.S. Constitution, but also it ignores the warnings given to us by Alexander Hamilton and James Madison in the Federalist Papers relevant to U.S. military despotism. These men not only warned us about SB 1867-type action, but also expected the States to resist them. Yet there are many Americans who seem more than “OK” with this hazardous bill.

How can the mainstream culture in America go from mistrusting people in power (based upon the biblical expression of human nature’s depraved condition) to a culture where people almost invite despotic-type control over supposedly free people?

I believe the answer lies, in part, within Christian churches. It stems from the erroneous doctrine of a citizen’s unlimited duty to submit to government no matter what—a reference to Romans chapter 13. The detrimental effects of this false doctrine is why I wrote the book, ‘Romans 13: The True Meaning of Submission’ (order at http://www.Romans13Truth.com).

Over the past 100 years or more in America, Christian pastors and teachers have revived the divine-right-of-kings doctrine and have adopted Georg Hegel’s (the grandfather of Communism) theory of the absolute and uncontrollable power of the State. To maintain control of the State’s absolute authority, Hegel, in his Philosophy of Right, admits that churches must be treated as corporations to be completely subject to State power.

Hegel’s formula has been successfully applied in the United States. The vast majority of Christian and even Muslim worship centers are corporations under IRC 501(c)(3). G.W. Bush’s “faith-based initiative” programs, whereby churches could get federal (carrot) money, required the church to be 501(c)(3) corporations. During a time when republicans controlled every federal branch of government, the ‘Houses of Worship Political Speech Protection Act’ (HR 2357) was rejected by the federal government at large.

When you talk to church members regarding the church’s role in learning of and speaking out on political issues, the standard responses are, “separation of church and state” or “we can’t because we would lose our tax exemption status”.

It is little wonder why the federal government is able to pass blatantly unconstitutional and dangerous laws under the pretext of “protecting America” when the largest religion in America (Christianity) teaches unlimited submission to government and is a corporation subject to government scrutiny and control (at least in our minds).

More than ever in America, a true understanding of submission to government is needed. This is why I have written, along with my dad, Chuck Baldwin (former 2008 Presidential candidate), the book, ‘Romans 13: The True Meaning of Submission’ (order at www.Romans13Truth.com).

This book is scholarship for the layman and the leader. In 10 chapters and 100 pages, it expounds in detail the principles of sound reasoning and Bible interpretation on this subject. Its analysis and conclusions are clear: submission to government is limited. From this understanding, we have a duty to know the extent of submission.

When Christians and those holding Christian values understand the duty to ensure good government and to oppose injustice and unconstitutional actions, government would think twice about the laws its passes.

Christians would be watchdogs for liberty on behalf of their family, friends, and neighbors. The study of liberty would once again become a priority in the Christian home. Parents would train their children in the principles of God-given rights and responsibilities. Loving our neighbors as ourselves would extend to more than just offering a free meal during Christmas; it would include unselfishly proclaiming and demanding justice for the sake of the community all year.

The New Year is the best time of year to set goals. One of our goals for 2012 should be to learn the truth about the true meaning of submission to government. If every Christian were to study the book Romans 13: The True Meaning of Submission (order at http://www.Romans13Truth.com), I doubt SB 1867 and the like would be able to ride its way through the political process without hardly a second thought. Government would once again fear the people, instead of the people fearing government.
