Air Pro Master Will Assist With Transition to R-4548

LAS VEGAS, NV - October 21, 2025 - PRESSADVANTAGE -

Air Pro Master, a company providing AC repair in Las Vegas and the surrounding areas, has begun the process of helping customers with the transition to R-4548 from R-410A. The company will continue to service 410A units, and they will service the newer units as well.

R-4548 and R-410A are refrigerants. R-4548 has a lower “GWP.” In this context, “GWP” is an acronym for “Global Warming Potential.” R-410A’s GWP is in the range of 1,890 to 2,100. R-4548 is at 466. As 466 is lower than 1,890-2,100, R-4548 is considered to be more environmentally-friendly than R-410A.

Since January 1st, 2025, only HVAC system equipment with R-4548 has been manufactured. R-4548 and R-410A are different. This is part of the “American Innovation and Manufacturing Act,” (“AIM”).

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, this rule prohibits the “manufacture and import of products containing restricted HFCS (hydrofluorocarbons) by January 1, 2025.”

HVAC technicians cannot use parts that would be appropriate for one type of system in another.

The main difference between the two is their flammability. R-410A is “A1.” In this context, “A1” means “nonflammable.” R-4548, however, is “A2L.” That means “mildly flammable.” One cannot simply be treated the same as the other.

R-4548 refrigerant cannot safely be used in a system designed for R-410A refrigerant. The reverse is also true. Valves, such as those for safety relief and expansion, must be created explicitly for R-4548 refrigerant to be used on R-4548 systems. HVAC technicians require particular tools and training to be able to work on the two units.

Despite these changes, R-410A systems are not being recalled, nor are they ceasing use. Parts for 410A units will not be taken off of the market. HVAC technicians from Air Pro Master believe that parts for 410A units will be available for the next decade.

Currently, Air Pro Master technicians service units with R-410A refrigerant, R-4548 refrigerant, and other units. They have serviced HVAC units in homes and commercial buildings. Services they have provided in the past include HVAC repair, replacement, installation, and maintenance services.

During the summer, they usually receive more calls for air conditioning “tune-ups.” During fall and winter, they receive more calls for repairs and replacements for heaters, heat pumps, and furnaces.

“We understand that some of these transitions can be a bit confusing and frustrating. We can help our customers to make them less so. No matter if someone has an HVAC with R-410A or R-4548, we can repair your HVAC, replace it, and more,” said a spokesperson from Air Pro Master.
