HANOI, VIETNAM (MERXWIRE) – Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports achieved remarkable growth in 2025, surpassing $8.5 billion, a 19.8% increase from 2024, and marking a historic high. The data shows that Vietnamese produce has seen significant growth across multiple markets in North America and Asia, reflecting an increasingly diversified export strategy.

China remains Vietnam’s largest export destination, accounting for 64.3% of total fruit and vegetable exports. Exports to China in 2025 exceeded $5.5 billion, up 18.8% year-on-year. While China continues to dominate as a market, Vietnam is expanding into other regions to reduce reliance on a single market.

The United States emerged as the second-largest market, with exports reaching approximately $547.1 million, a substantial 51.8% increase from 2024, representing 6.4% of total exports. Exports to South Korea totaled $307.7 million, down slightly by 2.3%, while Japan imported $237.8 million worth of Vietnamese produce, up 18% year-on-year, about 2.8% of total exports. Taiwan imported $172.29 million, increasing 9.7%.

Exports to the European Union also showed strong growth, reaching over $353.26 million, a 45.7% increase from 2024, accounting for 4.1% of total exports. In contrast, exports to Southeast Asia totaled about $332.51 million, down 20.5%, or 3.9% of total exports.

Notably, exports to the U.S. continued to rise sharply, reaching around $500 million in the first 11 months of 2025, up 56% compared to the same period last year. Exports to South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the Netherlands also exceeded $100 million, reflecting the ongoing diversification of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable export markets.

Japan remains a key market, with exports reaching $237.8 million in 2025, up approximately 18% from the previous year. Over the past five years, exports to Japan have grown at an average annual rate exceeding 60%. Among exported products, chrysanthemums, bananas, and sweet potatoes are the top contributors, totaling $111.62 million and accounting for about 47% of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports to Japan, driving much of the market’s growth.
