The launch event underscored a growing civic demand for accountability, informed consent, and ethical standards in psychiatric practices.
Highlighting the initiative’s strong governmental and community backing, the opening program featured keynote contributions from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), representatives of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, and Bondi Mthimkhulu of the Safe Hub leadership. Master of Ceremonies Mr. Madimetsa Nkoana directed the event, which focused heavily on empowering Soweto families with a practical understanding of their legal protections.
