Safe and affordable teeth whitening services can be hard to find. That’s why WeWhiten now operates in Irvine, CA, providing local clients with non-bleach gel- and LED-based treatments that do not cause discomfort or damage to teeth and gums. “During the pandemic, I couldn’t find any affordable or safe teeth whitening near me,” company founder Katherine Dangerfield says. “All the local dentists were offering peroxide and bleach-based treatments that were expensive and potentially risky. I knew there had to be a better way.”
Dangerfield’s solution – and one of the reasons for her beauty company’s rapid expansion – was to use organic gels painted onto teeth combined with LED activation. The technology protects the enamel while hiding coffee, tobacco, and red wine stains.
“The original idea was for people to have organically white teeth,” Dangerfield claims. “Gel and LED-based therapy is safe and comfortable, and you don’t need professional dentists to ensure patient safety. It’s just a much simpler and better way of doing things.”
The fact that WeWhiten is not operating in Irvine, California, is something of a miracle for the firm. The company was set up at the start of 2020 in Utah, offering light-based teeth whitening treatments to local clientele. However, the pandemic hit just two weeks later, effectively shuttering the business.
Even so, Dangerfield succeeded because of the quality of her concept. Safe, effective, and affordable treatment was previously the reserve of the ultra-committed and wealthy, but her new approach made it accessible to more people.
“Our main 90-minute whitening treatment is just $199,” Dangerfield says, “but can whiten teeth by an impressive eight shades in a single session. We also have an even cheaper 60-minute version that whitens teeth by up to six shades for a visible difference in shine.”
Currently, WeWhiten has thirty studios across eight states, including California. It wants to expand this to 150+ over the next ten years as part of its mission to deliver more affordable teeth whitening services to more people.
