Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute Launches New 2024 Pacific Time Zone Trauma Themes Course

The Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, a professional educational organization that provides high-level psychological trauma therapy training, tuition, and networking dedicated to the study and teaching of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, has launched a new Trauma Themes Pacific Time Zone course, beginning in May, 2024.

Offering a revised, accessible format with blended digital and self-learning materials, the Level 1 trauma course will be hosted by Rebeca Farca, PhDc and is open for participants to register now, with certified attendance and APA credit available for mental health professionals.

Background of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute

Founded in 1980 by Dr Pat Ogden, PhD, the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute (SPI) is an organization with an international membership. Over the last several decades, SPI trainings have been held in 18 countries around the world. SPI provides resources, a training curriculum, workshops and conferences, and a therapist directory.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy blends talk therapy approaches with straightforward somatic interventions. Based on principles of unity, organicity, mindfulness, relational alchemy, non-violence, and a holistic approach to mind, body, and spirit, the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy approach was developed for use by clinicians either independently or alongside other treatment modalities.

Symptoms of trauma are rooted in the body, and SP is a somatic approach that effectively treats clients who suffer with PTSD and relational trauma. Therapists use this approach to support clients who have experienced trauma and traumatic experiences to understand and work through the habitual behaviors, physiological arousal and psychological patterns that disrupt their lives and impact their well-being.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy can be introduced when talk therapy has proven to have limited success and is suited to trauma and attachment issues, including anxiety, negative thoughts, feelings of detachment, post-traumatic stress, disturbing emotional reactions, and difficulty enjoying life or maintaining relationships.

Information About the New 2024 Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma Themes Course

The newly designed Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma Themes course begins in May 2024 and finishes with a closing session scheduled for November 2024, with 93 contact hours and CE credit (APA, LPC, LMFT) available where applicable.
