Michael Ray Pride was born and raised in Ohio, where he continues to reside. He worked as a library assistant for 30 years, gaining exposure to a wide range of literary genres including mystery, science fiction, and children’s literature. His interest in writing children’s books developed after the birth of his daughter. Reading to her regularly inspired him to begin creating stories of his own. His daughter serves as the main character in Leaves, reflecting the personal inspiration behind the project.

According to Pride, his lifelong passion for children’s literature and storytelling motivated him to write the book. He hopes young readers will feel inspired to explore nature, use their imagination, and develop a lasting appreciation for reading.

Leaves is intended for young readers and families seeking an accessible introduction to nature-themed storytelling through rhyme and educational engagement.
