Tech Whistleblower Support Organization Psst.org Appoints Jennifer Gibson as Executive Director

Veteran human rights and whistleblower advocate to scale Psst.org’s innovative collective whistleblowing and protection model to make it safer for tech and AI insiders to raise concerns

Psst.org, the nonprofit pioneering collective whistleblowing models to reduce individual risk and enable public-interest disclosures, today announced the appointment of Jennifer Gibson as its new Executive Director.

Gibson, a co-founder of Psst.org, steps into the role following more than a decade and a half of leading high-impact legal and advocacy work in some of the most complex and high-risk whistleblowing and human rights cases worldwide. Her clients have included senior and high-profile whistleblowers from leading tech companies, including, most recently, the former Head of Security for WhatsApp, Attaullah Baig. Gibson led Psst.org’s work supporting Baig, who went public with his concerns about Meta’s failure to protect WhatsApp users’ data in September 2025.

As the risks facing insiders in tech and government grow – especially around AI and surveillance – Gibson’s appointment reflects Psst.org’s continued focus on injecting transparency into tech by finding newer, safer, and more protected ways for insiders to raise the alarm safely. Psst.org’s model integrates legal protection, strategic communications, and public advocacy to support whistleblowers collectively rather than leaving individuals to navigate the process alone. It was founded by whistleblowing veterans with expertise across these areas – Jennifer Gibson, Amber Scorah and Rebecca Petras.

“Jennifer brings an extraordinary combination of legal rigor, strategic judgment, and moral clarity to this role,” said Mary Inman, Psst.org Board Chair. “As Psst.org continues to grow, her leadership will be essential to ensuring whistleblowers are protected, supported, and able to come forward safely.”

Previously, Gibson served as Legal Director of The Signals Network, where she designed and led a comprehensive whistleblower protection working at the intersection of journalism and source protection. In that role, she supported multiple high-profile whistleblowers, including Uber Files whistleblower Mark MacGann, whose disclosures led to major global investigations, legislative inquiries, and sustained media coverage across the United States and Europe.

Earlier in her career, Gibson spent a decade at Reprieve, where she directed complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation and investigations related to U.S. and allied counterterrorism operations, represented victims before domestic and international courts, and served as a frequent media spokesperson on cases of global significance.

“Psst.org was founded to address a structural failure in how whistleblowing is handled—one that places too much risk on individuals and too little responsibility on institutions,” said Gibson. “I’m honored to step into this role and to continue building collective, resilient pathways for truth-telling in the public interest. As powerful technologies increasingly shape society behind closed doors, we need more than ever to shed sunlight on what’s happening inside the black box of tech. The people best positioned to do that are the workers inside these systems. Protecting them isn’t optional, it’s a democratic necessity.”

Gibson holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from Stanford Law School and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, where she was a Gates Cambridge Scholar.
