The global manufacturer of air and drive technology aims to significantly reduce process and material costs by digitising its purchasing operations
ebm-papst has selected the source-to-pay and supplier collaboration platform JAGGAER One for its procurement. The leading manufacturer of fans and motors aims to optimize its supply chain, supplier, and product group management as well as e-procurement across the company. To reduce direct and indirect purchasing costs and overall process costs, JAGGAER's software will be implemented step by step at production sites in Europe, the US, and China.

JAGGAER One will initially support forecasting and purchase order management. In addition, regular capacity queries are intended to ensure more stable planning and thus additional savings. The group will also integrate its suppliers more closely into overall inventory management in the future via vendor-managed inventory (VMI) and forecasting processes. The supplier itself monitors inventory and consumption on the basis of transparent data and controls replenishment.
“Our primary goal is to make supply chains even more robust in order to avoid production downtime at all costs. We also want to use JAGGAER to reduce material inventories and thus significantly lower our storage costs,” confirms Alexander Käss, Director of SCM at ebm-papst.
The source-to-pay platform will also reduce the administrative burden on the technology company's buyers when sourcing direct materials; RFQs (requests for quotation) can be created using dynamic templates, data libraries, and based on the material master from the SAP systems. Flexible cost breakdown structures break down prices into material, manufacturing, or logistics costs for precise quote comparisons. Other criteria such as risk and sustainability data can also be included and taken into account in the award scenarios. Once a sourcing event has been completed, all agreed terms and conditions are updated in SAP.
Prior to implementing the solution, ebm-papst first improved the quality of its master data. BearingPoint's Data Quality Navigator (DQN) was used for this purpose. The solution uses artificial intelligence to identify and clean up duplicates, errors, and inconsistencies.
“The better the database, the better our assistants and AI agents can subsequently relieve the procurement teams of routine tasks. To do this, they create order proposals, communicate with suppliers for standard inquiries, or check for discrepancies between orders and data along the delivery chain,” says Bob O’Leary, SVP Europe at JAGGAER. “Cleaning up the data was all the more important because ebm-papst uses different SAP systems worldwide, whose information will flow into JAGGAER One.”
"BearingPoint and JAGGAER already demonstrated a deep understanding of the process during the selection process. With these strong partners and JAGGAER One, we can advance our goal of globally standardized procurement processes," explains Martin Wagener, Vice President Purchasing at ebm-papst.
