Sharonview FCU Partners with United Way to Expand Access to Books for Local Families

FORT MILL, SOUTH CAROLINA / ACCESS Newswire / March 2, 2026 / Sharonview Federal Credit Union is partnering with United Way of Cleveland County to support the second year of the My Home Library initiative, helping facilitate access to books and strengthen early literacy efforts for children and families across the region.

This year, the My Home Library Project has expanded to include all first- through third-grade students in Cleveland County Schools. The addition of more students brings the anticipated impact to around 3,500 students-a 59% increase from the 2,200 served last year.

"When students have books of their own at home, it builds confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning that extends far beyond the classroom," said Dr. Stephen Fisher, Superintendent of Cleveland County Schools. "Programs like My Home Library help remove barriers to literacy and give our families additional tools to support their children's academic growth."

The community-wide literacy campaign begins on Read Across America Day on Monday, March 2, and continues through March 6. As part of the initiative, Sharonview team members and community partners will participate in classroom reading events throughout the week at Cleveland County Schools, helping to bring books and literacy engagement directly to students.

"Access to books at home is one of the strongest predictors of a child's academic success," said Leslie Cobb, President and CEO of United Way of Cleveland County. "Through partners like Sharonview Federal Credit Union, we're able to expand the reach of My Home Library and ensure more children in our community have the resources they need to build strong literacy skills early in life. This collaboration reflects what's possible when organizations come together around a shared commitment to families."

Sharonview joins this year's My Home Library Project with the United Way, Cleveland County Partners Aligned for Literacy (PALS) and other community organizations. As a community credit union, Sharonview is proud to work with other leaders who value education at all levels and want to bolster our communities.

"Education remains central to the growth and prosperity of any community," said Herb White, CEO of Sharonview Federal Credit Union. "We are honored to help foster literacy among young students, and this sponsorship reflects our commitment to Cleveland County and to enriching the lives of those we serve."
