UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / March 2, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who honors Ron Falter for his expertise in agriculture and music. As the owner of Dandy Valley Farm & Nursery in Goldendale, Washington, Mr. Falter has built a thriving enterprise with decades of experience, hands-on leadership and commitment to customer satisfaction. Also a musician and educator, the multitalented agrarian is recognized as a Top Professional for his contributions to organic farming, education and the performing arts.

Challenges Facing Small-Scale Farms
Independent farms and nurseries often face competition from large commercial growers. In addition, they must manage unpredictable weather patterns and rising supply costs. Sustaining quality plant production also requires specialized knowledge in greenhouse management, heating systems and plant cultivation. Mr. Falter addresses these challenges through meticulous operational oversight and customer engagement.
Since founding Dandy Valley Farm & Nursery in 1993, the agricultural operation has done well. It is an endeavor that requires discipline, business sense and knowledge of environmental stewardship. The work includes seeding, transplanting, taking plant cuttings and direct customer interaction. Mr. Falter attributes his success to careful attention to detail and strong organizational skills. These attributes have enabled him to maintain high product quality and reliable service.
A Career Influenced by Music and Education
Before establishing his agricultural business, Mr. Falter built a distinguished career in music performance and education. He completed doctoral coursework in music performance and education at the University of Nevada, Reno, after earning master's and bachelor's degrees from the same institution.
Mr. Falter taught at both the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Oregon. He also served as a lecturer and performer with the Ludwig Drum Company in Chicago and as a professional drummer in casinos throughout Lake Tahoe and Reno. During his performing career, he worked with many well-known entertainers, such as legendary singer Lou Rawls.
Once, at a rehearsal, Mr. Falter was playing percussion, timpani and other instruments. A young performer approached and asked, "Would you teach me how to play?" "Sure," he said. "I taught him how to play timpani." The young performer was 11-year-old Michael Jackson, who, along with his brothers, opened for Rawls.
Cross-Disciplinary Knowledge and Community Involvement
In addition to operating his nursery, Mr. Falter has remained active in community education. He has participated in local gardening and farming seminars and served as a guest lecturer at international percussion symposia. His combined experience in agriculture and music education reflects his commitment to sharing knowledge across multiple disciplines.
Mr. Falter considers graduating from college among his most meaningful achievements, as the accomplishment carried both financial and academic challenges. However, it represented a major milestone, as he was the first member of his family to attend college. His career later expanded into entrepreneurship when he saved enough money to purchase and operate his own farm.
Succession Plans for Dandy Valley Farm & Nursery
Although Mr. Falter is approaching his ninth decade, he still works long days at his farm. He plans to prepare a successor or team to continue operating Dandy Valley Farm & Nursery in the coming years so the farm can continue serving customers and the local community.
Mr. Falter encourages others to pursue opportunities in agriculture and small business ownership. "You can be successful even in a small-populated area if you can come up with a product that's in demand and there's a need for your product, and you fulfill that need," he says.
