Corona Del Mar, Ca. - In an effort to improve the lives of those affected by spinal cord injuries, a nonprofit organization, Walking with Anthony, is set to host its “Come Together” charity fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the New Port Theater.

This empowering event, sponsored by Flagstar Bank, Riviera Magazine, Fletcher Jones, JP Morgan, Macro Z Technology and Tito’s Handmade Vodka, aims to educate and raise awareness about the various obstacles that occur from spinal cord injuries (SCI). In honor of Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month, the event’s initiative also serves as an opportunity to acknowledge SCI survivors and their resilience.

While supporting and advocating for individuals with SCI, “Come Together” also captures the red carpet ambiance with the riveting debut of “The Lost Weekend: A Love Story.” This unreleased documentary recounts the romance between John Lennon and May Pang, his assistant. Following the showing, May Pang herself will be present for a Q&A.

Prior to the showing, attendees can enjoy the allurement of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres  and live music from 4 Lads from Liverpool, a Beatles tribute band. There will also be a live auction hosted by the executive members of Walking with Anthony where all proceeds will go towards assisting SCI survivors in gaining equal access to essential medical treatments.

“Come Together” creates a unique experience for attendees to enjoy while also making a lasting impact for a worthy cause.

About Walking With Anthony

Walking With Anthony has helped Anthony Purcell join forces with others trying valiantly to walk the path of living victoriously over the physical, emotional, social, and financial challenges of SCI. In the late morning of February 6, 2010, Anthony Purcell dove into the waters of Miami Beach, something he’d done many times before without incident. This time, he misjudged the depth of his landing spot, broke his neck, and bruised the C5 and C6 vertabrae in his spine. He injured his spinal cord. He was paralyzed, unable to resurface from the water on his own. Even with access to the therapy he needed, Anthony still struggled with the depression and hopelessness everyone with SCI faces. The personal struggle over SCI is more than one person can face alone. Anthony understands the emotional anguish that comes with SCI like no one else can. He has met with hundreds of his brothers and sisters in the SCI community and given them a sense of assurance and purpose they might never find without the help of Anthony and this foundation.
