Dream Out Loud; A Sneakerheads Path To Redemption

Rikki Mendias was nine years old when his mother went to jail for shooting his father’s mistress. A year later she’s released and they struggle to navigate a world of food stamps, welfare and Payless shoes, until Rikki starts stealing to support a growing sneaker habit that will lead him to collecting hundreds of shoes.  

Fast forward to his early 30s, Rikki is struggling to find meaning in his life when he is struck with an idea to give away some of his coveted sneaker collection. The simple gesture of giving out sneakers to someone in need will end up changing the trajectory of his life in unexpected and surprising ways.

Dream Out Loud is a powerful coming-of-age memoir that shows just how Rikki is able to break free from his family’s legacy of drug addiction, incarceration, and trauma. Rikki Mendias is the founder of Hav A Sole, a nonprofit that has been delivering sneakers to underserved communities since 2014. While Rikki is passionate about sneakers, basketball and photography, more importantly, he is committed to having a positive impact on those around him. 

Wendy Adamson is a writer, a motivational speaker, and an advocate for mental health. As a published author, Wendy has two books, Mother Load and Incorrigible where she documents her own struggles with addiction and the long arduous journey of healing that came as a direct result of getting sober.
