DAVIE, FL, February 24, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Schiller Kessler Group proudly announces Parker Shubin as the recipient of the Healing Journey Scholarship. Shaped by his experiences overcoming significant medical challenges, Parker is pursuing a career as a pediatric nurse, where he hopes to bring comfort and hope to others through shared experiences about the recovery process.
Diagnosed with a pilocytic astrocytoma brain tumor at just five years old, Parker's life has been marked by courage and perseverance. Having undergone a total of 14 brain surgeries and years of chemotherapy and other medical procedures, he maintains his focus on education and giving back to his community. Despite these challenges, Parker has turned his journey into a source of strength and purpose.
"This scholarship will allow me to pursue my education to become a registered nurse without the added stress of funding my studies," Parker said. "I've been on the receiving end of world-class care, and now I want to give that same level of care to others. I don't want to be defined by my past, but I do want to be driven by it."
Parker is currently completing his prerequisites at Moorpark College in California and has applied to several Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs. His ultimate goal is to work in pediatrics, ideally at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where he has been treated for the past 15 years.
His passion for his community and patient care extends beyond his academic pursuits. Volunteering as a Care Extender at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Parker assists nurses and comforts patients, including those with conditions similar to his own.
He has also been an active member of organizations such as the American Cancer Society on Campus and Synapse at UCLA, where he connected with and supported other survivors of brain injuries and cancer.
As a volunteer, Parker witnessed firsthand from the pediatric nurses how small acts of kindness can make a big difference for patients struggling through the more challenging days of their recovery journeys. One of the most valuable lessons he learned came from a mentor during his time at UCLA Medical Center, who taught him that "sometimes, just being there is enough."
The Schiller Kessler Group created the Healing Journey Scholarship to support individuals like Parker, who have demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity and are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others. The Schiller Kessler Group is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals both inside and outside the courtroom.
