ATHENS, GREECE June 21, 2007 - Diana Shipping Inc. (NYSE: DSX), a global
shipping company specializing in the transportation of dry bulk cargoes, today
announced that it has entered into a time charter contract with Constellation
Energy Commodities Group, Baltimore, Maryland, for one of its Panamax dry bulk
carriers, the Naias, at a gross rate of US$34,000 per day for a minimum twenty
three (23) to a maximum twenty five (25) month period.

This employment is anticipated to generate approximately US$23.5 million of
gross revenues for the minimum scheduled period of the charter. The charter is
expected to commence at the end of September, 2007.

Diana Shipping Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Simeon Palios, commented:
"The new charter of Naias demonstrates the merits of our current chartering
strategy. We had positioned nine of our vessels to be redelivered to us between
September 2007 and April 2008, giving us the opportunity to take advantage of
the expected favorable market conditions. We also continue to be selective with
respect to our customers, as reflected in our establishment of a relationship
with Constellation Energy Commodities Group, which is a major supplier of
wholesale power and leader in the international coal market."

The Naias is a 73,546 dwt Panamax dry bulk carrier built in 2006.

our operating expenses, including bunker prices, drydocking and insurance costs,
the market for our vessels, availability of financing and refinancing, changes
